Support Independent Student Groups (and DIY Radio!) at SFU: Vote YES in the #OurFeesOurChoiceSFU Referendum on Feb. 10-12, 2026

You probably know that the majority of our funding as a station comes from a fee paid by SFU students - but did you know that this per-student amount has not increased since 2008?
That’s why CJSF 90.1 FM, along with student organizations Embark Sustainability, SFPIRG and The Peak Newspaper, is putting forward a referendum question asking SFU students to increase each organization’s funding by $1.50 per full-time student each semester.
This small per-student amount will have an impact on every area of our station, representing a 40% increase from the $3.75 that we currently receive from each full-time student.
How Can I Help?
If you’re an undergraduate student at SFU, vote YES on Feb. 10-12, 2026, during the SFSS's general student election and referendum next week!
You can also help us continue to spread the word about the #OurFeesOurChoice campaign this week, by telling your friends, classmates and listeners about what CJSF means to you, why student-run services (and media outlets!) are important, and why they should vote YES to support independent student groups on campus.
Plus, stop by the station at our Open House (more info below) or any other time this week, and get in touch with your fellow volunteers and our station's staff (including our Volunteer Coordinator, Jeremy!) - visit our Contact Us page to find out how to connect with us.

This Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2026), from 11am to 3pm, drop by our station and the other student spaces run by the groups we are working with on the referendum - we welcome any and all who would like to learn more about what we do!
Help out with the campaign, answer questions from students, and enjoy snacks and beverages.
