The Heart of the City Festival is pleased to partner with Red Jam Slam to honour Aboriginal war veterans with live performances and a national Live Remote! Curated and hosted by Gunargie O’Sullivan; and presented with the Red Jam Slam Society, CJSF 90.1 FM, and Caveman Café.

Gunargie has brought together an incredible line-up of performers to honour the Aboriginal Veterans on NATIONAL ABORIGINAL VETERANS DAY. Guests include: Brenda Wesley, a War Veteran herself, who will open the broadcast, followed by traditional hand drummer Kelly White. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Mark McLeod performs this afternoon with original tunes; and we are honoured that young singer and activist Ta’kaiya Blaney will join the program. Cindy Jim Woods will play delicate tunes on the tradtional flute;

Delores Dallas and friends will share a spoken word performance; Anthony Favel will drop by to share some music on the flute; we are thrilled he is able to join Red Jam Slam to perform for the slam.

Grabbing the groove in the afternoon is Shed the band, and be sure to listen for the hands clapping and feet stomping! Renowned blues and jazz singer Dalannah Gail Bowen will light up the airwaves

Many more highlights of today’s broadcast include: Vancouver singer/songwriter Norine Braun; Clayton Brown plucking the electric guitar plays contemporary rock tunes; charming us and Nayden LA Palosaari, actor, singer and songwriter with The mechanical god PROJECT. What a line-up! Not to be missed. We hold up our hands to honour Aboriginal War Veterans.

The Red Jam Slam Society encourages strategies that honour Aboriginal voices and encourages all to participate with continued growth, presence and expression. For full schedule and lineup: facebook.com/redjamslam
