The Depth of Greatness
This week we are remembering the music of NEA jazz master pianist McCoy Tyner, who passed away March 6 at age 81. A true giant in the jazz world he made his name as pianist of the classic John Coltrane Quartet in the 1960's and then as a bandleader, composer and showman. A truly elegant player. As well, I am playing new music by Vancouver groups Jamie Lee Trio and Malleus Trio.
