John Cullen Live at Yuk Yuk's

by Sophia Gaba

When you’re in the gifted program in school alongside very intelligent children who will grow up to be lawyers, doctors, and engineers, getting voted “Most Likely to be a Comedian” is not entirely a good thing. In the words of local comedian John Cullen, it means “that everyone thinks you will the most likely to be making less than $15,000 a year”.

\r\n At Yuk Yuk’s in November, Cullen recorded his debut comedy album, Most Likely to be a Comedian. For someone who isn’t too familiar with the comedy scene, but loves laughter, I wish I knew who John Cullen was sooner! This guy definitely knows how to make sure everyone is laughing and having a good time.

\r\n

\r\n Cullen is that rare comedian that you watch who’s having so much fun on stage, you can’t decide whether he’s having more fun than you are. His comedy is very personalized; that’s what makes him so amusing. It’s like he’s telling a funny story to his friends, while trying really hard not to disrupt with his own laughter. Cullen incorporates his vast life experiences as a high school teacher, performer, and un-fit boyfriend into his comedy in the hopes of giving the audience the best time. According to Cullen, that’s really what comedy is all about.

\r\n

\r\n In Most Likely to be a Comedian you’ll hear all about Cullen’s unconditional love for his students (especially that douchebag Tyler), his experience at Spin Class with his national-level volleyball player girlfriend, and of course the Just For Laughs Fleshlight.

\r\n

\r\n Also just so you’re aware, Cullen doesn’t hesitate to “include” his audience either. By include I mean pick on…but just make sure you’re not two twin nurses with no idea why you chose your professions, and you should be just fine.

\r\n

\r\n Cullen had me laughing hysterically the entire time, so I got to skip my Laughter Yoga the next morning. He’s the guy you need to hear! When the it’s released, be sure to check out Most Likely to be a Comedian for an unreal experience.
